Vehicle Wraps FAQ

What is a vehicle wrap?

A vehicle wrap is the application of a high performance, large-format, digitally printed vinyl that adheres to your vehicle’s painted surface. What this means is that you can put virtually any photo or design that you would like on the side of your vehicle.

Is the vinyl wrap print protected?

Yes, absolutely. We laminate each print. This provides durability from scratches, as well as UV protection from the sun’s rays.

How is a vehicle wrap different from paint?

Paint is permanent. Vehicle Wraps actually protect your cars painted surface, and can be removed when it comes time to trade-in, or sell your car. In addition to being wrap installation professionals, we are also capable of striping your vehicle, should the need arise.

Will a vehicle wrap harm my vehicle’s surface?

A vehicle wrap also protects your paint from the harmful effects of mother nature. In addition to UV protection, the vehicle wrap will stop chips, scratches, acid rain, and more. Since the vehicle wrap is not permanent, your paint will look just as pristine as the day you dropped your car off to be wrapped. The benefits are two-fold, your will be adding resale value to your vehicle, all while promoting your business.

How should I care for my vehicle wrap?

Mild soap and water will do fine. We do recommend that the vehicle is washed regularly, as road grime can cause vehicle wrap fatigue and negate the vinyl manufacturer’s warranty.

Are vehicle wraps expensive?

Compared to other options for advertisement, vehicle wraps offer you the most exposure for the least amount of money. It has been said that over the course of a year, if you live in a city of 50,000, your vehicle wrap will receive 8.3 million impressions.

On average, a small/mid-sized car (such as a Yaris) will cost $2000 to print and install. A mid-sized car will cost approximately $2500, and an SUV or truck would be between $3000-$3500. Please keep in mind that this does not include design fees. Compared to radio, or television advertisement, the impressions-to-cost ratio is significantly lower.

What if I do not have a design in mind?

This is something we come across on a regular basis. Not only are we wrap installers, but we are graphic and web design professionals. We actually recommend having our team design your wrap, as we are familiar with your vehicle’s intricacies that a regular graphic designer may not be aware of, such as body molding placement, gas tank door location and more.

How long does it take to wrap a vehicle?

The short answer is two weeks. However, we make every effort to keep our clients happy, so if your needs are a bit more demanding we are confident that we can meet your stricter requirements. In general it takes a week to flush out the design phase, a few days to print the graphics, and two days to install the wrap.

How do you handle wrapping windows?

Each case is specific to the design of the car and the wishes of the client. We always wrap the back windows with a perforated vinyl that is 50% holes and 50% vinyl. This offers you the ability to see out the back window, while adding privacy from people trying to look in. The side windows are typically wrapped with the same perforated vinyl, but may also be wrapped in the typical vehicle wrap vinyl to suit the needs of the client.

What size vehicles can you wrap?

The answer to that is simple: we can wrap any vehicle. We are wrap professionals, we can wrap something as small as a subcompact or motorcycle, all the way up to a bus, plane, train, monster truck, or building. That is the beauty of auto wraps, the sky's the limit.

How cost effective are vehicle wraps?

Studies conducted state that in a city of 50,000, a business with a vehicle wrap will get approximately 8.3 million impressions. Since an average vehicle wrap costs $3000, that is a significantly large impression to low-cost ratio.

How long will a vehicle wrap last?

We use a high-performance vinyl, with a manufacturer's warranty of up to seven years under normal weather conditions. That being said, as long as you keep up with washing your wrap (just as you should your vehicle's painted surface), the wrap should last a minimum of seven years. This includes cracks, peels, and fading.

What are the artwork requirements if I have a designer of my choice create the wrap?

While we recommend having our highly skilled design team create the artwork for your wrap, we have also worked with designers in the past to produce vehicle wraps that demand attention. We are familiar with a vehicle's intricacies (such as gas tank door, molding placement and more) and design our wraps accordingly.

Here are is a list of files that we are able to accept:

EPS – most vector data is acceptable, provided all artwork is converted to curves (Corel), or outlines (Illustrator). Illustrator artwork must be saved backwards to Illustrator CS

TIFF, PSD, JPG – these bitmap/raster files must be the exact dimensions of the vehicle and cannot have a resolution lower than 72dpi. We prefer to have a layered .psd file with the text layers rasterized.

Please note, we are also able to provide a template of your vehicle's exact dimensions to your designer. This is highly recommended by NHWraps, as this helps to streamline the vehicle wrap design process, and eliminate some of the problems associated with vehicle wrap design.
For more information regarding artwork submission requirements, please call us at 603-224-7446, or email us.

Can I take my wrapped car through a car wash?

You can take your wrapped car through a car wash, we recommend this, as your vehicle needs to stay clean so that road grime and debris does not contaminate the vehicle wrap. We do not however suggest using a pressure washer, as this could possibly lift the edges on a vehicle wrap and present areas of failure later on down the road.

What if my logo or contact information changes in the future?

Since all of your artwork is saved on our computers, we are easily able to make a patch to your existing vehicle wrap. This happens on a regular basis as well, and the process is typically very easy to remedy.

What if I get a dent, ding, or scrape, can it be fixed?

It depends on the amount of damage your vehicle endures. Typically most dents and dings can be fixed with minimal amounts of work. Since we save all of your files on our computers, we are able to print and produce patchwork of any size.

Is metal the only thing that can be wrapped? What about my bumper and fiberglass hood?

We can wrap just about anything, so no need to worry about various materials not being able to accept our wrap material. As stated above, we are able to wrap anything from a sub-compact, or motorcycle, to a plane, or building.. Most wraps include the bumpers, and sometimes the roofs of vehicles, depending on the vehicle's standing height.

Can I add your web address into the wrap design and get a discount?

While our wraps include a small tagline somewhere on the vehicle, just as you are, we are always looking for more exposure. If you are interested in placing our web address somewhere in the vehicle's wrap design, we are more than willing to compensate you for this generosity. Feel free to speak with us to see how we can work together to create more business for each other.

Will the wrap peel or fade?

Since we laminate each of our prints, your wrap and vehicle’s paint are protected from the damaging effect of UV rays. The vinyl manufacturer recommends a seven year warranty on all of our vehicle wraps, and we proudly stand behind these warranties.

What other services do you offer?

In addition to vehicle wraps, we also offer carved signs, ada signs, donor recognition plaques, banners, and even web design. For more information about any of our services, please give us a call at 603-224-7446, or you can email us.
